About Me

I have joined a "club" that no one wants to join and when I was told that the teeny weeny bug bite I found above my right nipple was in fact a tumor, well, I sat down (actually laid down in bed) and cried for about three hours, fell asleep, woke up and cied again. The purging helped a bit, but not really. It fact it was surrealistic. My family history does not include breast cancer and didn't all the mammogram technicians comment on what "clear" breasts I had? I did the monthly checks and felt nothing, so how did I get on this train? Read my blog and find out!

Able A Goes On Holiday

Able A Goes on Holiday is a preschool book and the first in a series of seven books. The premise behind this series is that of an adult reading to a preschooler and teaching the child the beginnings of sound/symbol relationships. One of the underlying themes of this series is to also make young children aware of species that are endangered throughout the world. Another theme is that of teaching geography to children who will live in an increasingly smaller world and one where our similarities far outway our differences. Counting numbers, days of the week, seasons and telling time are all taught in the series. Here is an opening poem and then the first a few pages from the first book.
Wake Up, Wake Up
Long Vowels A, E, I, O, and U

“Wake up! Wake up!” says the child today.
“Wake up! Wake up! It’s time to play and learn about the long vowel A”

It’s time to put on our shoes and socks and a tee,
It’s time to run and play and find great things to see!
It’s time to learn about long vowel E!

It’s time to stare at the big, blue sky,
It’s time to play “peek-a-boo” and “I spy”
It’s time to learn about the long vowel I.

It’s time to count our toes and tickle our nose,
It’s time to go outside and find a rainbow!
It’s time to learn about the long vowel O!

“Wake up! Wake up! Help me put on my shoe.
I’ve places to go and things to do!”
It’s time to learn about the long sound of U!

Here is day one of Able A on Holiday:

On Sunday Able A, from CAPE Cod BAY, went on A HOLIDAY,
By the ocean she decided to STAY!

She got her spyglass and saw a green sea turtle swim AWAY,
The she clapped when she saw a common loon the following DAY.

She got up in the morning and took a TRAIN,
To visit Cape Ann in the state of MAINE!

The TRAIN went over mountains and Able A heard someone SAY
Look outside, look outside a bald eagle is flying our WAY!

Then Able A went to sleep on the TRAIN,
To wake up and find she was at the seashore in the state of MAINE.

On the beach she had fun and splashed and PLAYED,
She waved hello to the boats and they SAILED out into the BAY!

Then an atlantic puffin flew above her and she smiled happily and WAVED,
As she watched it flap its wings and fly across the BAY.

Later, just before bed, Able A watched the moon and thought about the DAY,
She had so much fun that she waved her arms and yelled, “Hurrah”.
